Making the Move..

So, you have moved your old back office system into the Cloud. That hugely expensive on-premise system was brought in decades ago. It was a painful, tough and costly process – and the management swore ‘Never again’.

So the system remained untouched. Occasionally, sales people from the vendor would persuade you to ‘upgrade’. Every five years or so. As they say, changing your business software happens about as often as an Englishman changes his bank account (BBC News).

Now ask yourself a question: how often do you change your marketing message? Once a quarter, perhaps? So what’s going on? Why do systems never change but the need for the business to change does all the time?

Because we had such painful experiences with on-premise IT that we stopped having the imagination to change.

But, you’re in the Cloud now.
If that change is just about a delivery platform, you’re not much more ahead of the game than you were with your Big Tin or AS/400. What needs to change along with your business system is your whole approach to it. Step forward the power of iteration.

Cloud is not just a delivery format; its real contribution is letting you change and not get locked down by wasteful and horrendous implementation approaches that leave you exhausted andpast caring.

Cloud let’s you do that because it is much less costly and dangerous to try and iterate – to try a new version and then a new version of that approach, and so on.

The power of iteration. You need to make this your new business mantra to help you flex to win new business, be more agile than the guys across the street, do better things for less money, and keep clients delighted.
